Hey guys-
I'm going to San Diego in a few weeks, and part of the trip is to pick up a game. I own a Ford Explorer that is certainly big enough to use to transport the game. Hell, I bought my Asteroids in Litchfield Park and drove it home to central Phoenix, and that sucker's tall.
I'll be bringing the game home, lying on it's back for the six hours it takes to get from SD to the PHX. I planned to wrap it in a thick mover's blanket, but is there anything else I should do? It's not like it will be exposed to the elements, and the drive from SD to PHX isn't particularly hard. Any other suggestions for transport? Thanks! |

Just make sure you open the game up and make sure everything is secured. You should also remove any lose debris in the bottom of the cabinet. Last thing you want to do is get a screw or coin logged in somewhere where you can't see it and it goes up in smoke. |

I always put big foam "bricks" under the 4 corners. My work throws away this foam - I guess it's like shipping foam, but it is a little bit soft/squishy, but still quite resilient. I just like that it adds some extra cushioning.
Bring a big tarp, just in case you run into rain. I use c-clamps to make sure the tarp stays where I want it. And with my foam block idea, it keeps the game off of the bed of the truck enough that if you were caught in a downpour, it wouldn't be laying in a pool of water.
Also - see if anyone else wants a game from out there, then you can maybe have someone split the gas $$ with ya...?
Tie-down straps. Use plenty of them. |

I like the idea of foam bricks, Jawhn. I'm sure I can get some of that at work myself.
I'm actually throwing the game in the back of my Ford Explorer. It's big enough for the game. And my daughter. And our luggage.
I read your and Dave's epic roadtrip thread on either KLOV or AHA. No horse masks for us, but a road trip like that would be fun. |

Yeah, I've probably been out to Cali over 10 times in the past few years. You just cannot beat their selection and pricing for our beloved games. I still want to hit a Captain's Auction in Anaheim at some point. Even though I'm sure it will get me into a lot of trouble. The horse masks truly are an indispensable $25 item that everyone should own. Everyone. Road trips with Dave are fun. The guy's wacky. In a good way. I keep telling him that he & I could very easily do a reality TV show that people would watch / become addicted to... |

About 700 miles, 12 hours, and a long weekend in San Diego for the wife, here she is! Got her home safe and sound, and everything seems to work. Thanks for all the tips! |
