Hi, I have a question about a PacMan board. They all have a couple of pads that can be jumpered to change the difficulty. The obvious way to check is to simply look at the pads and see if they are solder bridged. On my board they clearly are not. Still covered in the solder mask.

However, according to the website "The PacMan dossier" another way to tell is to watch the attract mode and see who kills PacMan.

Here's the relevant paragraph from the website

https://pacman.holenet.info/#HardwareIinfo

"You can determine the difficulty setting of a machine by observing which ghost kills Pac-Man during the attract mode demo game. In normal difficulty, Pac-Man gets captured by Inky in the lower-left area of the maze. If the difficulty jumper has been connected, however, he is captured by Clyde near the same location."

Not so on my board, Clyde kills PacMan despite the non-bridged solder pads. Seems the website is wrong, but can anybody else confirm? Is there another place to complete the circuit for the difficulty change that someone might have used?

Well, I found out what the discrepency was and it's embarassing. I was looking at yhe wrong solder pads! There are two sets of bridgable solder pads in the same area and one of them, the one that sets the difficulty, was in fact bridged.
